Who informs the registrant about the new terms and conditions?

28 May 2025

We have prepared a new version of the ‘general terms and conditions for .be domain name registrations’. These are the general terms and conditions that apply to every holder of a .be domain name, i.e. your end customers. The new version will come into force on 16 September 2025.

What is new in version 6.3?

Based on the NIS2 directive:

  • Changes around publicly available information, via the WHOIS function on our site. At the same time, domain name holders will have more control over which contact details are shown.
  • We clarify which parties can submit a request to receive info about domain name holders' contact details.
  • We add a number of situations in which we check the contact details of domain name holders in order to comply with our legal obligations.

In addition, the following also change:

  • We checked and completed the processing of personal data so that we can inform our domain name holders about important issues regarding their domain name.
  • We are clarifying the impact of any appeal procedure on the refund of ADR procedure costs.

You can read more about this at on our website. You can also find the new version of the General Terms and Conditions on our website.

We gladly share a summary of the most important changes with you. You can also consult the full version of the terms and conditions with the visible changes (the 'redline' version).

Inform domain name holders

We find it necessary to inform all domain name holders of this new version. Therefore, from 16 June 2025 we will send an e-mail message to all .be registrants. In this e-mail we explain the most important changes and provide a URL with the location of the new conditions. We share an example of the email we'll send to the domain name holders with you.

Don't mind DNS Belgium sending your registrants an e-mail message? Then you do not have to do anything else.

Would you prefer to inform your registrants of the new version of the general terms and conditions yourself?

  • Please let us know no later than 6 June 2025. In this case, we would like to receive proof that you have informed your customers of this change by 7 July 2025 at the latest
  • We do not receive anything from you? Then we assume that DNS Belgium may send your registrants a message on 14 July 2025. That way, we can prove that the domain name holder was indeed informed about the new conditions.

We would also like to ask you to only submit the new version of the general terms and conditions to your customers for approval as from 16 September 2025. You can find the text of the new terms and conditions here, starting 16 June 2025.
