ISO 27001 certification

Security, quality and reliability are the cornerstones of DNS Belgium's technical mission.  Protecting our data, systems and services is a top priority for our organisation.

Information security is an integral part of our operations. DNS Belgium's information security management system (ISMS) has been officially ISO 27001 certified since the beginning of July 2016. That certificate was renewed in 2019 and 2022 by the auditing body Certification Europe.

DNS Belgium's ISMS is tailored to the data security risks within our organisation. It is a process-based approach to planning, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of information security management. A rigorous audit always precedes (re)certification.

“Quality and security are inextricably linked in an organisation like DNS Belgium. They are our top priority”.

Quality and security

“Quality and security are inextricably linked in an organisation like DNS Belgium. They are our top priority”, says Philip Du Bois, General Manager of DNS Belgium. “The ISO 27001 standard ensures that DNS Belgium has a structural approach to make the right decisions in the long term and so improve the security and quality of our services”, he continues.

According to Philip Du Bois, the implementation of the ISO 27001 standard means that DNS Belgium has become an even more qualitative organisation because of this approach. He believes the method that is associated with ISO certification raises awareness about several other aspects, meaning its impact is felt beyond the domain of security.

Cooperation critical to success

“The biggest success story of this project is not the fact that we obtained certification, it is the active participation of all our employees in this process”, says Kristof Tuyteleers, DNS Belgium’s Information Security Officer.

“At DNS Belgium security is paramount, but this project has helped raise awareness about information security on the shop floor even more. We think we can respond even more quickly and efficiently in case of a security issue.”

Continuous improvement

For Kristof Tuyteleers, certification does not mean you can rest on your laurels as far information security management is concerned. “The ISMS is evolving along with our organisation. We are always facing new challenges and new security threats. The ISMS is our instrument for controlling these continuous changes. Meanwhile, we have also been identified as an essential services provider because of our role in the Belgian part of the internet. With the certified ISMS and associated audits, we are making our efforts visible and showing that we are managing information security well."

What is ISO271001?

ISO27001 is a globally recognised standard published by the International Standardisation Organisation (ISO). The standard describes how information security can be managed in an organisation. The aim of the ISO27001 standard is to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information in an organisation. To do this, it sets up a security process that achieves a continuous improvement cycle based on risk assessment and management, monitoring and reporting.
