Why do we use SDG icons in our communications?

SDG icons have been featured at the bottom of articles and some pages on the website since 2018. These icons show our support for the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). When the content of an article or page contributes to one of those goals, the corresponding icon appears at the bottom.

What are the Sustainable Development Goals?

In September 2015, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Sustainable Development Goals. Together, the 17 SDGs and their 169 targets constitute an action plan to create a sustainable and resilient society by 2030.

The SDGs are organised around 5 themes: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership. The emphasis in these SDGs lies on their universal nature. This means that we can also play our part in building a sustainable society here in Belgium. That is precisely what we are also trying to do at DNS Belgium.

A sustainable society in Belgium too

We have undertaken many sustainability initiatives ever since we developed our first sustainability strategy in 2016. Sustainability is interwoven with all aspects of our business operations and is an integral part of our mission.

You can read about these actions in our recent sustainability reports and in the news items on this site. Thanks to all these initiatives and efforts year after year, DNS Belgium earned the title of SDG Pioneer in 2020 and became an SDG Ambassador in 2023

These titles are valuable recognition of our work. But ultimately, what matters most is our contribution to a sustainable society.

Inspiring and motivating

We are doing our utmost to achieve our sustainability objectives and set the bar higher for ourselves. We do so because the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals matter greatly to us, but above all because we realise that sustainable change begins with us.

By communicating about our sustainability efforts, we want to inspire and motivate our employees, partners at home and abroad, other registries, etc. to take action themselves and to develop a structured and strategic approach to sustainability.

And that is why we show the SDG icons at the bottom of our pages. They remind us that even small actions, such as those we share in news articles on this website, can contribute to a sustainable society.
